So, some of you who actually bother to read this may remember me complaining of toothache a few entries back. x_x Not fun.

I had a consult appointment with an oral surgeon yesterday. (HE CREEPED ME THE FUCK OUT FOR SRS) Apparently, one of my wisdom teeth is on a nerve, and I'm biting my gum around there all weird, so I have to get them out. I couldn't get an appointment until January 18th, either, so I'm gonna writhe in pain for another month and then pay to have some major creeper rip my jaw open. OH BOY, SOOOOOOO MUCH FUN.^

I hope I feel better enough to go back to school so I can meet with Courtney-san and get some work done on my Johan cosplay before the holiday break. (They're not gonna have a clothing class next year due to budget cuts... HOW DARE THEY, I MADE MY LIFE IN THAT CLASS. I won't be there, but still...)

In other news I might cosplay as Hiei for Anime Boston or ConnectiCon, although I'm still trying to decide. Anyone else think it's a good idea?

I saw pictures and stuff around the internet and it looked cool, then I had some friends who were cosplayers and really got me into it.

Anime Boston '08... average.

- How many cons have you been to?
Eight, nine if Conbust counts

- How many cosplays have you done?
Hmm... (in order) two different versions of Kadaj, Summoner Yuna, Szayel Aporro Granz, Ulquiorra Schiffer (made but never worn), Seto Kaiba , Chazz Princeton and Souseiseki, so far.
Working on Johan Anderson right now, there are a few other characters I might like to cosplay in the near future (next year or so), mainly Hanyuu Furude and Hiei Jaganshi

[[Your Cosplays]]

- What was your first cosplay and why did you choose it?
Kadaj of course, because I AM KADAJ BITCHES

- What is your favorite cosplay you've done so far?
Kaiba, obviously. Came out the best, and I get to screw the rules!

- What is your least favorite you've cosplayed?
Chazz Princeton. Never am I making such a half-assed cosplay again... at least when I did my extremely shitty first Kadaj people knew who I was. Plus I CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME GET MY HAIR TO DO THAT. XD

- What cosplay is the most uncomfortable?
Souseiseki. Seriously, I thought my feet were going to fall off, those shoes were so fucking painful.

[[Process]]

- How do you research the cosplay before you make it?
Reference pictures mostly, I try to look up details about the character if it's one I don't know too well, and if I know someone else who's cosplayed the same character I'll ask them about it.

- Do you sew your cosplays yourself?
Yes! Sometimes I'll use an altered thrift-store item though

- If so, how did you learn to sew? If not, do you plan to learn?
Clothing class at school sophomore year

- Do you make your own props?
I don't often have props, when I do I usually don't make them

- If so, how did you learn to? If not, do you plan to learn?
I'd like to learn, some of my cosplays are really lacking without weapons and such

- Do you style your own wigs?
I will in the near future!

- What other skills do you use to create your cosplays?
Sometimes I'll use a bit of makeup wizardry to make myself look more like my character.

- What skill has been most useful for making your cosplay?
Using a sewing machine, and to a lesser degree patience and persistance.

- What is the hardest thing when making a cosplay?
Finding a pattern that looks right for something you're trying to do.

- What was the biggest screw up you've had making a cosplay?
The Kaiba Corp logo on Seto-sama's coat is a bit messed up because I put my purse strap there before it dried all the way, but no one else has ever noticed it before so I guess it's not that bad.

- How often do you injure yourself while making a cosplay?
Almost never, actually. It's weird because I'm a generally clumsy person.

[[Budget]]

- Do you try to stay cheap or do you splurge on materials?
I try to find ways to save money, since I have almost none, but the quality of the cosplay comes first. Usually, however, I find that with a little workmanship you can get a much higher quality of of less expensive materials.

- Have you ever cosplayed with a partner or group?
Not yet, but it would be fun!

- Do you try to act in character?
Sometimes, like for photoshoots and stuff. Normally I find that the way I act at cons is very much unlike the type of character I usually go as.

- Have you ever done fanservice at a con? (Yaoi, yuri, etc)
YES

- How do you react to cosplayers dressed as character from the same anime/game/etc?
It depends on a lot of things, I usually like seeing hot guys as Seto-sama though

- Do you try to duplicate your character's expressions, walk, movements, etc?
For when it matters.

- When crossplaying, do you try to act as much like the gender as possible?
Eh, I'm pretty guyish to begin with so it's not much of a big deal

- What was your funniest experience of acting in character?
Hmm... well I ran into a Mokuba at NYAF '09 and was all like "Where the hell have you been?" They instantly turn to see me and go "BIG BROTHER?!?" Such a gratifying moment.

- What was your worst experience acting in character?
At AB '08 (this was my first-ever con, and my first version of Kadaj was REALLY shitty) I found this really good Jenova, so I approached her and said "ZOMG MOTHER?!?!?!?!?!?oneone" They just ignored me. x_x Stupid elitists.

- Do you compete in cosplay contests?
When I get the chance, so far I've only entered at Conbust '09 (a real small local con) Szayel did not get any prizes.

Skits are funny!

I'm working on Johan Anderson right now, I've got a few other ideas for con season '10 already - Hanyuu Furude, Hiei Jaganshi, Ryo Marufuji, possibly a third version of Kadaj or a second Szayel. I might wanna go as Squall Leonhart too for reasons involving my personal life and a guy who does an EPIC Seifer

- What is your dream cosplay?
I have to say... probably just a much better Kaiba than I already do.
I'd also love to cosplay Szayel Fornicarias or Vincent Valentine but I won't be good enough to make those for maybe even several years

- What do you take into consideration when picking a character to cosplay?
How much I like the character, how well I could pull it off, whether or not my current skill level matches what I'd need to make the costume, my budget.

- Is cosplay serious business for you?
YES.

- What is your favorite thing about cosplay?

- What is your least favorite?
The cost, getting way too many glomps from crazy fangirls, the fact that it can get annoying having to repeat the same two or three Yugioh Abridged lines all day

It's fun, I get to meet so many awesome people, and I just love doing it so much that I can't imagine my life without it.

- How would you like cosplaying to change in the future?
